Over 100,000 people petition Barack Obama, to make Black Lives Matter a Terrorist Group

An online petition to U.S President Barack Obama to categorise 'Black Lives Matter' campaign and movement as a terrorist organization has gathered over 100,000 signatures.
This comes in the wake of 5 Police officers being killed as retaliation after two Black men Alton Sterling and Philando Castille were shot to death by Police officers last week even when they posed no threats or committed no crimes.

The petition, hosted on the whitehouse.gov website, was created one day before the attack on police in Dallas, but has picked up steam in its wake.
Read what the petition states:
'Terrorism is defined as "the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims". This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups, as terrorist organizations. Black Lives Matter has earned this title due to its actions in Ferguson, Baltimore, and even at a Bernie Sanders rally, as well as all over the United States and Canada. It is time for the pentagon to be consistent in its actions - and just as they rightfully declared ISIS a terror group, they must declare Black Lives Matter a terror group - on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety.''
Petitions on the White House website need to reach 100,000 signatures in order to receive an official response. Consequently, at time of writing, over 100,000 signatures have been made.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson declined to define the massacre of 5 white police officers by a Black man as a hate crime, and said that it is not reflective of movements like Black Lives Matter.
“At a time like this when tensions are high, in the wake of events in Dallas and Baton Rouge and Minnesota and elsewhere, it’s important to remember that just as the shooter on Thursday night is not reflective of the broader movement to bring about change in police practices that any police officer who engages in excessive force is not representative of the larger law enforcement community, which with increasing frequency, reflects the community at large,” Johnson said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.

Imo State Governor sued Over Assult Linked to Aides

Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been dragged to court for allegedly ordering his aides to beat up Anthony Amadi and Chigozie Oparaku, who were in the Compound of Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho, when the Governor arrived with a demolition squad that demolished part of Iheanacho’s compound.

This was just as the victims are asking the court to award them N50 million in damages for the varying degrees of injuries that they sustain during the brutal assault by the Governor’s Aides.
The duo said that their only crime was that they had brandished an order of the Federal High court, Owerri restraining the Governor from demolishing Ihenacho’s property, that rather the governor ordered his security details to beat them up.
According to him, “About an hour later, the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha in company of his full security detail came to Captain Ihenacho’s house and the Governor ordered the engineer to demolish Ihenacho’s house, we then went towards the Governor as much as the security details would allow us and showed him the court order, thereupon, the Governor ordered his security details to beat us up and arrest us,” Amadi narrated.
In an affidavit deposed to by Anthony Amadi, he said that on the 7th of July, 2016, while at Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho’s house, they noticed agents of the Imo state government advancing towards Ihenacho’s house with heavy equipment and with intent to demolish the property. They approached the engineer in-charge of the demolition and showed a copy of the restraining order against the said demolition and the Engineer obeyed and withdrew his equipment.
The victims recalled that they were beaten for over half an hour by more than 20 security details of the governor just for daring to show them a restraining order of court against their illegal action.
“At the end, we could hardly stand or walk, and they carried us and dumped us at the Shell Camp Police Station without any medical treatment,” Oparaku they submitted.
Amadi’s left eye still have blood clots and opens with difficulty while Oparaku has an ugly lump on his back all sustained after the beating.
They also said that in spite of the fact that the Imo state Police Commissioner had duly acknowledged a petition by their Lawyer Amadi Obi against the Imo state Governor, that they were dumped in the Shell Camp Police cell without treatment.
“Receipt of the petition was acknowledged the next day, yet the commissioner refused to release us to seek medical care instead we were transferred from Shell Camp Police Station to Owerri Area Command at Fire Service.
We were released on the fourth day without any charge against us. We were only told that we were detained on the orders of Governor Rochas Okorocha and that was exactly what was written on the incident board.”
However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo said that the Governor has not been served with any court summons.

Sex Scandal: US Ambasador to Provide Video Evidence Against Reps

ABUJA- THE outgoing United States of America Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle is to present video evidence against.

The three members of the House of Representatives on Thursday, as the Ossai Ossai Committee assigned to probe the alleged sex misconduct involving the trio begins open public hearing. The three members according to the letter from the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria to the Speaker are Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC, Bauchi); Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue).

Entwistle, had in the petition to Dogara alleged that the actions of the three lawmakers at the International Visitor Leadership Programme in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, from 7th to 13th April, 2016, brought disrepute to the parliament by soliciting for sex from prostitutes and grabbing hotel housekeeper in a bid to rape.

Vanguard reliably gathered that the Committee had been unable to sit because some of the members of the committee had traveled to perform their religious obligation in Mecca during the Ramadan fast.

It was also gathered that the Committee decided not to extend the invitation to the hotel management as the Ambassador who broke the information through a letter to the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara was expected to have all the documentary evidence against the three accused members.

Apart from the outgoing US Ambassador that is expected at the open public hearing, the Committee also extended invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, the three accused lawmakers, the National Human Rights Commission, as well as the other seven members that attended the leadership programme.

Speaking to Vanguard on phone, Chairman of the Committee, Rep Ossai said that the committee decided not to invite the management of the hotel the alleged sex misconduct took place because it believed that the Ambassador would come with all the necessary video evidence where the accused committed the action.

Besides, he said that the Committee did not carry out any secret investigation because the members involved in the allegation had demanded public investigative hearing for Nigerians to see their culpability or otherwise.

Recall that the Speaker, Dogara while inaugurating the Ossai-led Ethics Committee alongside the Foreign Affairs after the House resolution at plenary on Tuesday, 21st June, mandated it to investigate the culpability of the three members involved in the alleged sex misconduct.

He described the assignment as a very serious one where many people had already made their conclusion that the three accused lawmakers were wrong.

He, however, stated that, “The standard in the US is that an accused is assumed innocent until proven guilty and that is the same standard in Nigeria. Any one who has evidence can now see the committee.”
